Thermage Skin Care Non
Surgical Skin Tightening
The
Thermage Skin Care procedure is the only noninvasive treatment that
delivers tighter skin, renewed facial contours and healthier collagen.
(Collagen is the building block that provides structure to your skin.)
The Thermage skin care procedure is available only in the offices of
qualified physicians who specialize in cosmetic Thermage skin care procedures.
Your physician is your best information resource for determining how
Thermage skin care treatment will most benefit you. The more commonly
asked questions about Thermage skin care procedure are listed below.
What
is the Thermage
Skin Care Procedure?
The Thermage
skin care procedure employs a patented capacitive radio frequency
(CRF) technology called ThermaCool. It has been clinically proven
to tighten and gently lift skin to smooth out wrinkles and renew
facial contours. The incision-free Thermage skin care procedure is
fast and easy, and requires no downtime from normal activities. Unlike
lasers, the Thermage skin care procedure can be performed on patients
of all skin types. The ThermaCool device has been cleared by the
FDA for the non-invasive treatment of facial wrinkles and rhytids.
How
does it work?
Thermage is performed
using an advanced, highly sophisticated radio frequency device known
as a ThermaCool TC. The patient’s skin is tightened following
a brief touch of the ThermaCool TC’s treatment tip and circumvents
the need for surgical incisions and recovery time. More specifically,
Thermage works by heating the deeper skin layers of the patient. In
so doing, new and remodeled internal collagen is produced within these
skin layers, which tightens immediately in response to the heating.
When receiving Thermage, the patient’s top layers of skin are
protected with a cooling spray. Over time, and with subsequent Thermage
procedures, the internal skin collagen grows back firmer and tighter.
It is this response that results in tighter, more youthful looking skin.
For many patients,
a single Thermage treatment may accomplish the desired results. In working
with a qualified cosmetic surgeon, the number of Thermage treatments
required to accomplish the optimum result may vary significantly from
patient to patient. Factors such as age, skin type, health habits (i.e.,
smoking), etc., contribute to the number and degree of Thermage treatments
necessary to accomplish "best case" results. Furthermore,
depending on the size of the area to be treated, most Thermage procedures
require between a few minutes to an hour to perform. While most patients
can expect to see gradual results appearing within the first two to
six months following the initial Thermage treatment, some patient’s
may notice tightening and smoothening of the skin much sooner.
