Therapy is the use of laser energy to create therapeutic effects. Research
has shown that these effects include improve healing time, pain reduction,
increased circulation and decreased swelling. The effects of light on
cellular function have been known since 1880, however the clinical benefits
of laser energy were only discovered by accident in 1967. The first
Laser for treating pain became available in the late 1970's and since
then, have widely been utilized in Europe and Asia by therapists and
doctors. Now, after FDA approval in 2001, laser therapy is quickly gaining
popularity in the United States.
We
have been using the XTRAC laser for localized psoriasis
and vitiligo. It is effective on all skin types and usually takes 10
to 20 treatments to achieve clearing of resistant psoriasis placques.
Laser
therapy for cancer treatment:
The term LASER stands for "Light Amplification by the Stimulated
Emission of Radiation." Laser light is concentrated so that it
makes a very powerful and precise tool. Laser therapy uses light to
treat cancer cells. Consider the following additional information regarding
laser therapy:

Lasers can cut a very tiny area, less than the width of the finest thread,
to remove very small cancers without damaging surrounding tissue.
• Lasers are used to apply heat to tumors in order to shrink them.
• Lasers are sometimes used with drugs that are activated by laser light
to kill cancer cells.
• Lasers can bend and go through tubes to access hard to reach places.
• Lasers are used in microscopes to enable physicians to view the site
being treated.
