Toxins (Dynamic Wrinkles)

Toxins (Dynamic Wrinkles)

With age comes wrinkles, but the cause of those grooves, creases, lines and hollows is more than just the natural aging process. Heredity plays a major role, and the environment you subject your skin to could be stripping your complexion of its youthful glow. Visible signs of aging on the face may be inevitable, but the causes that lead to its severity aren't all out of your control. Both intrinsic and extrinsic factors impact the wrinkling of your skin, with intrinsic being heredity, and extrinsic being those from your environment, such as smoking, alcohol, pollution, diet, wind, and (the big one) sun damage.

Like all skin solutions, preventing the signs of aging starts with an effective skincare regime - including a cleanser, toner and moisturizer - a healthy lifestyle, a constant shield of sun protection, and a visit to Total Skin & Beauty for sound advice. For deep, expression-influenced wrinkles, chemical treatments that buff away dead skin cells and speed up the cell turnover can only do so much. The health of your skin will be improved, yielding a fresher, newer and younger-looking complexion, but deep lines generally need more intense treatment.

Injectables, such as Botox, Dysport and fillers, are non-surgical procedures that can improve your skin's youthfulness in two very different ways. The injection of soft-tissue fillers - collagen, hyaluronic acid and others - fills in hollow, sunken or creased spaces, plumping up the skin and temporarily rejuvenating those aged areas. Botulinum toxins, also injected in the skin's problem areas, temporarily stop the hyper-reactive muscles that cause wrinkles to form, such as those between the eyebrows or on the forehead. These injections are also being used by some as a preventative method, stopping the crease-causing movements from happening before they do any damage. For those of you who don't like needles, there are topical solutions as well.
