Botox
BOTOX®
is the only one of its type with over 10 years of success in treating
patients with a variety of conditions. Approved in 70 countries for
a broad range of conditions including Birmingham, Alabama. Currently
being investigated in the US for the treatment of many medical conditions.
With dosing specific to treat frown lines, BOTOX® is now available as
BOTOX® Cosmetic. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a highly effective procedure that
can dramatically reduce wrinkles between your brows.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a natural and purified protein that relaxes the
muscles by blocking nerve impulses. With a few tiny botox injections,
BOTOX® Cosmetic blocks the release of acetylcholine, the chemical
that causes muscles to contract. Once the muscles are at rest, BOTOX®
Cosmetic causes the skin to become smoother, creating a more natural
and relaxed appearance.
Uses
of BOTOX®
BOTOX®
blocks the action of muscles. BOTOX®
is used in the treatment of certain eye disorders such as strabismus
and blepharospasm. BOTOX®
is also used to treat severe underarm sweating. BOTOX®
is also useful in treating certain spasms, movement disorders, tremors,
as well as cosmetic skin treatment.
How
to use BOTOX®
BOTOX®
is given by injection into specific eye muscles by an experienced health
care professional. Your dose and frequency of BOTOX®
will be
determined in part by your condition and your response to therapy.
Side
effects of BOTOX®
Because
BOTOX®
is given at the site of action, few side effects are reported. Double
vision, drooping or swollen eyelid, dry eye, tearing, eye irritation
or increased sensitivity to light may occur because of BOTOX®.
If these symptoms continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
Notify your doctor if you experience: vision changes, reduced blinking.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or
pharmacist.
